Transcripts from Madras University

What is a Transcript?

A Transcript is nothing but an attested copy of your university documents (all the mark sheets, Provisional certificate and the degree certificates) by the Attesting officer from the university

How to Obtain a Transcript from Madras University?

There is a department called USAB (University Students Advisory Bureau) in Madras University which helps you get a transcript

All you need to do is take a photo copy ( Xerox ) of all the university documents that needs to be attested and take a DD from a nationalized bank ( SBI , Indian Back , etc ).DD amount per copy is 10 Rupees , for example if you need a transcript for B.E , you may have to  take DD for 100 rupees , considering you need attestation for 8 semester mark sheets , 1 provisional certificate and 1 degree certificate , if you need 2 copies of all these then you may have to take a DD for 200 rupees , so per copy they charge you 10 rupees..DD may have to be drawn in favour of Registrar, University of Madras .When you have the photo copies, the DD and very importantly the ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS , go to the USAB department in the Madras University , which is just next to the SBI Bank , and see a member of staff will provide you a form to get your DD endorsed.you may have to fill in the form , go to the DD endorsement section which is near the car park and get the DD endorsed and the staff will put a seal on the form and will give it back to you, before getting the DD endorsed you may have to write a few details at the back side of the DD  ( details needed would be painted above the DD endorsement Counter , just the basic details like your name and address , course , register number and the Purpose of the DD).Take the form and go to the USAB department near the SBI bank and one of the staff will collect the form , and will ask for the photocopies and the original documents , they will compare the photocopies to the originals very carefully and will then put it in an envelope which you may have to buy from the post office for 10 rupees and they will write your name on it and will provide you an acknowledgement with a due date which normally takes 7 days..If you are lucky you can get it in 2 or 3 days..You can contact one of these numbers 25392255, 24902911 to check if your transcripts are ready and You can collect it from the USAB department when it is ready..
